About Juli

Most of my posts give quite a few insights into my background, my thoughts and my activities, and the first post reveals the overall purpose of this blog, but I’m collecting the basic bits about me all on this single handy dandy page. So, in no particular order:

  • Despite 14 years of a French bilingual education, I rarely speak French for fear that a French teacher is surreptitiously standing behind me waiting to correct my grammar.
  • I majored in biology and film at UC Berkeley, and somehow came out of college thinking that this combination meant I should be a scientific illustrator. Eventually I figured out I was destined to be a museum nerd with a Museum Studies degree to boot, but I still draw animals from time to time.
  • I’m an exhibit writer and editor at the National Museum of Natural History, which probably explains why I write an inordinate amount about labels.
  • I used to rock climb, tap dance, hike, swim, and engage in all sorts of other delightful activities, but then roller derby took over my life. I’d be annoyed if I didn’t like it so much.
  • I married a dude who enjoys podcasting. Go listen to Science…Sort of and enjoy it for yourself.
